How we handle your photographs
Short answers to the questions people actually ask.
Where do the photographs go?
They are uploaded encrypted to the server running the service and kept as files there, alongside what is read out of them: dates, places, dimensions. They are not passed to any service other than Anthropic's API, which reads them to write the chapters.
Who owns the photographs?
You do. We make no claim on them and never sell them, nor anything read out of them. There are no ads and no tracking in the service.
Does the location travel with a shared story?
Yes. The map in the story shows where the photographs were taken, and whoever holds the link sees it. The image files themselves carry no embedded location, and the originals cannot be reached through the link. Share the link with people you trust. The map images come from map providers (OpenFreeMap, Esri and OpenTopoMap), which see the area being shown but never your photographs.
Who can see the story?
Only you, until you share it. A story has its own link with a random code; whoever holds that link can read the story, but reaches nothing else in your account. Inviting someone to add photographs is done per story.
Does anyone look at them?
No person here. The photographs are read by Claude to write the chapters, and by the service itself to compute sharpness, duplicates and colour. There is no feature in the app that shows your photographs to anyone but you and the people you shared with.
Can I delete everything?
Yes. Deleting a story removes the rows and every file (the originals, all three derivatives and the finished book) from disk immediately. It cannot be undone, and the link stops working for everyone you shared it with.
Where the server sits, and what terms apply to Anthropic's API, depend on the deployment and are stated by whoever operates the service — we make no claim about that here.
